Dentures, Bridges, or Implants?

Crowns and conventional bridges or dentures may not be your only options when replacing missing teeth. For many patients, dental implants offer a smile that looks and feels very natural. Surgically placed below the gums over a series of appointments, implants fuse to the jawbone and serve as a base for individual replacement teeth, bridges or a denture.

How Implants Work

Implants offer stability because they fuse to your bone. Integration of the implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel more natural and some people also find the secure fit more comfortable than conventional substitutes. Candidates for dental implants need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. A thorough evaluation by your dentist will help determine whether you are a good candidate for dental implants.

Surgery & Restoration

First, an oral surgeon will place the anchor or implant. The implant will take two to three months to integrate into the bone before you can be fitted to have the artificial teeth fabricated. You will return to our office for impressions and a few weeks later you will be fitted with your new teeth. After the gums have had several weeks to heal, the next step is begun. The artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post portion of the anchor. Because several fittings may be required, this step can take one to two months to complete.

Implants

Missing teeth can destroy your confidence, making it embarrassing to eat, smile, laugh and talk. Missing teeth can also make it difficult to chew certain foods, leading to poor eating habits and health problems. Failure to replace missing teeth can cause other dental health problems as well as compromise the condition of your remaining teeth. Dental implants offer an effective and relatively simple solution to the negative effects of tooth loss.

Your artificial tooth (called a crown) will only last 10-15 years before it needs to be replaced due to normal wear and tear. The implant itself fuses to your jawbone and can provide a stable foundation for your replacement tooth for the rest of your life with good oral hygiene and at-home care.

You will require a minor surgical procedure to place the implants in your jaw. Following your procedure, it's normal to experience some pain and swelling while your mouth heals. Our team will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions and prescribed pain relievers (as needed) to help you manage any discomfort you may experience.

Yes, we do. For the comfort of our patients, we offer laughing gas as well as local anesthesia.

Many dental plans may cover a portion of your procedure. We will verify all benefits prior to treatment and help you make the most of your insurance coverage.

The full cost of your implant procedure will depend on your overall treatment needs, such as the extent of restoration required to complete your smile. Our team will provide you with a complete breakdown of all costs and payment options during your consultation.

Dental implants are made from titanium. We use this metal because it's biocompatible, which means it fuses with the surrounding jawbone tissue. This can prevent or reverse the bone loss that happens when you lose one or more teeth.
